NAS Oceana 2009

Virginia beach, VA

What was going to be the most anticipated air show of the year, ended up being a total wash out.  Half of acts were cancelled due to the weather, such as the air power demo. The only heavy metal flying took place on Saturday, with a few small acts on Sunday.  The Canadian Snowbirds did not fly at all, even though 3 took off ahead of the other 6 to check for weather. They landed after they did a 3 ship flyby and called it quits.

Huge thank you to Captain Phil "Ritz" Smith and the whole Strike Eagle team for allowing me out to their jet to watch their launch.  It was the last time I was going to see him on the team and it was a real treat. He is as classy as they get and as great as a friend you could have.  Good luck next year in Iraq.
